If you don't know what XMLRPC is and you use WordPress, then you need to do this or ask us to do it for you.
XMLRPC is a method used for communicating with your WordPress server from external applications.?? 99.5% of everybody who builds a website does not do this or need this and so it SHOULD be disabled by default but is not.
Please edit your .htaccess file in your root web-tree and add this to the end of the .htaccess file:
#Block WordPress xmlrpc.php requests
<Files xmlrpc.php>
order deny,allow
deny from all
#allow from 10.1.1.1
</Files>
If you do need access from an external device, please replace 10.1.1.1 with the actual IP of that device.
Save your .htaccess file
If you do not do this, hackers from Russia or China or elsewhere might try to commit a denial of service attack by hammering on this service.?? We recently had a customer lose 800MB of bandwidth from this.
